Danny started working on passenger vessels in Monterey when he was only fourteen years old. He became very interested in whales, dolphins and all the other wildlife he encountered as a boy. Danny studied for his Captains license when he was 17 and passed the coast guard test, but he had to wait for a year and a half before he was old enough to have it. After many years at sea he became interested in photography….then he became obsessed with photography. Danny has been published in many children’s books, The Monterey Bay Aquarium, The Shinagawa Aquarium in Tokyo, featured as a screen saver on cell phones, field guides, post cards, research talks, research posters, advertisements, and has many prints in a variety of museums. E-Photography, the leading Japeanese Marine Photo Library, has named Danny as “The new master photographer of Monterey!”
With his spare time he enjoys scuba diving, volunteering for whale and dolphin stranding's and assists NOAA with whale entanglement and rescue serving as the Captain for the rescue vessel.
